Caer Hill Fort Geophysical Survey

Cardiff Archaeological Society is part-sponsoring a further geophysical survey at Caer hillfort in Ely. The survey will cover the interior of the medieval ringwork and the area around it. Members are welcome to observe and take part on Saturday, 21st March,10:00am to 3:00 pm.
The Project is hoping to have an open day as well, with stalls, coffee, teas, medieval information, geophysics
etc. See both our own and theCaerau Heritage Project website for updates as well as following us both on Facebook.

Caerau Hillfort is easily accessed via Cowbridge Road West (A48). The Post Code is CF5 5LQ for SatNav. Travelling from Culverhouse Cross on Cowbridge Road West, take the second right after B&Q marked Heol Trelai. After about 1 km take a right turn when you see the Home Guard Club on to Church Road. Continue past the Post Office to the end of Church Road (you will need to turn right to avoid continuing into Hillfort Close!) and park up near to the Council's traffic barrier at the bottom of the hill. You then need to walk up the rest of the way to St Mary's Church which stands within the northeast corner of the hillfort's defences.

NOTE - the car parking area at the top is very small so please park at the bottom and walk up the lane unless you have a disability. And bring your wellies!
